Rough September

Well September did not start the way I had planned.  My dad crossed into heaven on Sept. 2nd after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.  As hard as it is to lose him, I know he is happy and healed now.  Friends and family have surrounded me with cards, meals, prayers, and kind words and I feel very blessed.

After taking a week or so off, I have managed to get the creative juices flowing again and making some pretty cute fall cards.

I was inspired by batik fabric for this card.  The first step was heat embossing with white powder the leaves and sprigs of wheat.  I used the Hello Fall Stamp set from the catalog.  Carefully, I repeatedly folded the card in different directions to give it that distressed look.  Then I sponged Mossy Meadow Ink, Tangelo Twist, and Hello Honey on the whole card.  I used a tissue to white off extra ink from the embossed images.  On the vellum piece, I heat embossed the sentiment in blackpowder.  Used linen thread and wood cutouts for the embellishments.  Love how this turned out.
